Capturing Culinary Beauty for Chef’s Table


Inside August 2025 American Cinematographer: The camera captures a top‐down view of one of pastry chef Corrado Assenza’s cakes for Chef's Table. “The majority of dishes in the series are lit simply, in this case by natural light streaming through a window,” says cinematographer Adam Bricker, ASC.

Bringing Naturalism to the Period Epic Chief of War


Inside August 2025 American Cinematographer: Matthew Chuang, ACS on the set of Chief of War.

Matthew Chuang, ACS, an AC Rising Stars alum, discusses the production of this immersive historical-epic series, which was shot on location across Hawaii and New Zealand to provide an authentic backdrop for its sweeping scope. The show called for lens modifications to create increased spherical aberrations and a painterly look.
