Lorenzo Senatore, ASC, AIC

When Lorenzo Senatore, ASC, AIC was seven years old, his father gifted him with a Nikon FG camera. “It was love at first sight,” he says. With a career spanning more than 20 years and over 60 features, Senatore still carries his Nikon FG.

Born in London, Senatore moved with his family to the United States when he was only a few months old. By the time he was five, the family relocated to Italy.

He studied cinematography in Rome and started his career as a camera assistant. He moved up the ranks to camera operator and Steadicam operator, and became one of the youngest professional operators in Italy.

By the age of 25, he decided to follow his “passion for action movies” and focused on pursuing work in American productions in Eastern Europe. Senatore has served as director of photography on features including Tom Sawyer & Huckleberry Finn, Megan Leavey and Risen. He has also photographed second unit on features including London Has Fallen, Beauty and the Beast, Wonder Woman and The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard.

His upcoming credits include Ghosts of War and The Outpost.

Senatore was recently interviewed regarding his work in the action-horror fantasy Hellboy (2019) for the American Cinematographer Podcast.
